Handgun Qualification Training Video

RJVS recently had the pleasure of producing a recap/highlight video for Abraham Security and Training Services (ASATS, Inc.).  ASATS can provide highly-trained security personnel for any needs, and can also train civilians and security personnel from other companies.

On August 4, RJVS filmed one of these training events, an annual handgun refresher course attended by approximately 15 security personnel from another company.  As native Texans, firearms training is near and dear to our hearts, so we really enjoyed capturing this session.

The final film package included two videos: a main feature, which we embedded on the client's webpage (which we also built), and a short teaser for the ASATS, Inc. social media pages.  We also designed a custom thumbnail for the films.

One of the biggest challenges on this shoot (pun unavoidable!) was capturing good audio on the range.  We needed to capture loud, clear vocals and usable gunshot sounds.  Of course, these two sound sources feature wildly different audio levels, and therein lies part of the challenge.  The second issue was that we had to wear noise-reducing headphones to protect our hearing, so we weren't able to actually monitor the sound we were recording.

We successfully captured usable audio from both sources by employing a wireless lav mic on Mr. Abraham, and setting the on-camera shotgun mics at two different levels--which is actually standard procedure.  We applied a little compression and noise reduction in post  and were quite happy with the results.
